Decent trimmer. Needs more features.

LOGISTICS: I was given a free unit for testing purposes. I was not paid. I was offered to keep the equipment upon completion of my review. This was voluntary, and I was happy to oblige. PACKAGING: 6/10 Appearance is fairly standard. The product is displayed well. It was easy enough to remove ...from the packaging, and I would guess it was secure enough to withstand any in-store tampering that may take place. This box would look ok on the shelf, but might not stand out against the competition. DualCut blades doesn't mean anything to me. I don't know how this would offer a fast and/or even trim. HARDWARE: 6/10 The trimmer is fairly standard. It feels light in the hand, and does not feel "expensive", but "cheap". It does not feel durable, and I would be concerned about how well this would withstand a drop. It feels comfortable in the hand, but does not contain any ergometric curvature that helps it seat in the palm. There is a texture to the to part of the unit which provides a tactile sensation that helps very, very slightly with grip. The trimmer length adjustment wheel is well placed, and spins easily but has enough "stick" to it to give confidence that it wont spin out of place. With the amount of space between the wheel, and the unit, I would be concerned that hair would get lodged into the crevice. The power button felt a little cheap, but conveniently placed. It is already unbalanced after the first few presses, and wobbles a little as it is being depressed. The charging cord felt cheap, but went into the trimmer easily, but felt firmly seated into the trimmer. While the unit is lightweight, it was heavy enough to withstand the cord being draped over the side of the counter without pulling it off. The trimmer blade appears sturdy, and is the heaviest part of the trimmer making it top heavy. The trimmer brush is a nice touch, but is also standard amongst the competition. The trimmer pouch is a little ridiculous. The shape of it makes no sense, and feels like a cheap throwaway. The trimmer barely fits. OPTIONS/FEATURES: 4/10 All in all, I was not overly impressed with the features offered by this trimmer. I would expect this to be one of the more affordable trimmers on the market. Adjustable trimmer length is pretty standard. Self-sharpening blades is an interesting option. This should be displayed more prominently. As it is, this feature feels like a dishonest throwaway "space filler" for the packaging. The one "Lift and trim" guard that is offered appears fairly standard, especially to anyone that has never used a trimmer before. Having some experience using trimmers, I was intrigued by it's shape and felt promise that it may function well. I was able to use the trimmer through the week on one charge. I do believe it would have lasted another day or two before needing to be recharged. USAGE/FUNCTIONALITY: 6/10 The trimmer unit felt ok in the hand during use. It was not slippery. However, I was concerned about dropping it. The trimmer does not have any ergonomic features to it physically, so it didn't feel like it was well thought out by the manufacturer. The blade handled the trim well, but was not the best I have used. It did not feel sharp, and I had concerns about how well the blade would handle trimming after a few months. Upon my review, the unit did not snag my beard at all. Nor did it fault and get stuck. The lift-and-trim guard worked very well. This was the nicest part of the unit, and made for a nice thorough trim. It felt great against my face and really felt like it was lifting the underlying hairs. My only concern with this was that depending on how you hold the trimmer will adjust the distance away from the blades and therefore offer an inconsistent trim. The plastic also bends, and if you press it too hard against your face while shaving, will also fluctuate the length of the trim. OVERVIEW: 6/10 (based on an approachable price-point) As it stands, the unit is just ok. Many other trimmers on the market offer multiple blades and multiple guards. There are also many others that have ergonomic shaping to the unit that helps it stay seated comfortably in the hand. I would only offer a recommendation of this model, if the model was moderately priced. And, I would likely not purchase another one after it had run it course. I would likely look to upgrade. In the event it performed consistently for at least a year, I could see how this could generate some brand loyalty. WISHES/IMPROVEMENTS: More guards. More blades. Better more appropriately sized pouch. Ergonomic shaping. Heavier unit overall, with better balance.
