We like Black + Decker appliances and thought we would give this coffee maker a try. It takes up the normal amount of counter space and seems to have all the normal functions. Including a "Brew Later" function which just means you can set the machine up to auto brew every morning. The base has a d...igital clock and easy to use buttons. Just read the manual, quick and easy to follow along! There is a "Strong" button as well. I wonder if that means it uses less water to make your coffee taste stronger and less watered down? The water vortex technology seems like a cool idea. Instead of the water just flowing straight down, the water comes down onto the grounds in a circle. I guess the idea is to get more flavor out of the ground coffee and into the pot. There are only 2 coffee drinkers in my house so we don't brew a full pot. Usually I just need to make 2 to 4 cups. I would caution if your using the tic-marks on the side to measure your water, that filling it to 2 cups, really only gave me 1 cup. So you may want to add more water and have it between the 2 and 4 tic-marks. I think this would be great in a location where you are serving multiple cups/people. It has an automatic warmer that stays on for 2hours and then auto shuts off. You can also turn the warmer off at any time.
I was looking for a programmable coffee maker, so coffee would simply be ready when I wake up. This one does that, which is nice, but it's lacking in some other features. It's supposed to allow for grabbing a cup while still brewing but without making a mess, but it still drips, leaving it to sizzle... on the warmer and drips down the pot. I do like the vortex feature because I like a stronger pot of coffee than my husband, but with a drip maker, I usually have to use more grounds for that, which means I end up spending more $ on coffee. The strength choice feature is good for that also. I guess overall it's just not an attractive appliance being all plastic, and I really dislike that I can't see the water basin area well to be able to see if there's anything floating in it (mold, bugs, etc.). We've decided to put it in our guest room area and seek out a better unit, something more attractive for the countertop.

blackanddecker.com/Unpacked and plugged in the coffee maker. The only light that appeared lite was the PM light. I was so disappointed to think there was no power on indicator light. Then next day I noticed a glimmer of light at the on/off switch. Very dim and hard to see. Guess it's better than no light at all.
I just bought this and a few things I found out the coffee maker itself when placed on my kitchen counter needed a non slip pad under it to be secure, the clock was well lit but over powered the on/off light but overall good, I made my first pot of coffee today it was good.

Works well, easy to use, like the features and they are better than my last black and decker coffee machine
New B & D coffeemaker is good so far. This is my second one. My first Black & Decker coffeemaker lasted 25 years! Enough said.

My old tried and true Mr. Coffee finally gave out. I wanted a new machine THAT day so I went shopping to replace it. After not finding a Mr. Coffee in three stores, I settled on a Black & Decker model. The carafe lid is very flimsy plastic and is NOT easily removed to wash like I could with the Mr. Coffee model. The machine lid is VERY hard to open, requiring two hands to unsnap it. The machine takes a long time to brew just 4 cups and takes a long time to begin brewing. I am going to try using the timed brew so that it is ready in the morning. The power/start/on light is almost impossible to see without cupping my hands over it! One TEENY little green light in the top center - super hard to see unless the room is dark. I do like the vortex water feature however. But I really miss my Mr. Coffee and will donate this Black & Decker model if I ever find one.
