I've been highlighting my hair ( full head ) blonde for a few years and over time especially in winter the colour does eventually fade always quicker than you want it to ( I get mine done every 6 months as can't really afford to get it done more). I always heard about these lightening shampoos/condi...tioners and tried a few and they never made a difference. But honestly this stuff actually does! My hair has completely kept its nice colour and my roots don't come through as dark as they use to. It definitely has made my hair stay lovely and blonde and has toned up the colour nicely.
My hair is naturally blonde and thin, and this product did seem to lighten it a shade. I used it consecutively for 3 weeks and documented the process with photos. I took the photos in the same room and in the same light. As seen, it did work. However, one thing I did not like about the shampoo was t...he bottle. I had to squeeze the bottom really hard for 10 seconds to get an good amount of shampoo out. Also, I did not like that the shampoo made my hair super knotty after applying. If I did not have the conditioner, my hair would be a nightmare afterwards. Overall, the quality of the product is good as it did lighten my hair one shade.
Works like magic I'm a natural brunette and dye my hair blonde 3 times a year. This shampoo and conditioner set keeps my hair looking like I just walked out of the salon every time I use + it gradually gets blonder every time I use it.
As others have noted, I've been having scalp irritation. I've used the shampoo and conditioner (not the spray) for approximately 15 yrs, but a few months ago it irritation started. After seeing my doctor and treating with steroid cream I decided to dig in and find out if they'd changed my favorite. Thanks for helping my dirty blonde grey gracefully, ALWAYS have gotten compliments on my hair color without coloring it! Time to change.
Used this product in the old formula for years. The new formula irritates my scalp with hard bumps. Sadly won't buy it again. It's being/has already been discontinued at most of my stores. Change it back JF.
Having used John Frieda Blonde shampoo and conditioner since their introduction over 25 years ago, and loved them, I always stocked up when they were on special offer, so had a good supply. This lasted even longer when I became very ill and wasn't washing my hair nearly as often. Before the old stock ran out, I ordered more, which had new packaging. I didn't even have to open it to realise the contents had changed, and not for the better, as the smell set off my asthma. However, I was so desperate for it to work, I tried washing and conditioning my hair with a very small amount, but it irritated my scalp so much, I couldn't use it again. Unfortunately I haven't found a replacement, and I'd love nothing more than the good formula to be reintroduced, so I could go back to using it for another 20+years. I don't understand a manufacturer changing something for a poorer product, whose ingredients must be toxic when they cause such similar, awful reactions.
Why do companies not listen to their customers? With so many negative reviews surely someone must be noticing that the people who are buying the products are not happy. This used to be my go to shampoo and conditioner for highlighted hair that was shiny and sleek. Now this new formula makes my hair dull, matted and with an irritated scalp! The original formula worked so why change it for something far inferior?
I bought the shampoo and conditioner and immediately got compliments!
Used to buy this all the time but now it makes my hair worse. I actively go through other sites to find the old formula.
Leaves hair feeling really soft, but sadly a very irritated scalp with small bumps/spots after first use.
I used to use this John Frieda blond shampoo regularly. Lately I have fond it gives me small hard sores like bumps on my scalp. Don't know if any of the ingredients have changed but this is no longer a product I can use.
I am so disappointed. I have been using this shampoo for years but recently developed painful lumps on my scalp every time I washed my hair. Apparently the formula has changed. I have no choice but to throw it away. I was reluctant to believe that it was my favourite shampoo causing me distress but I experimented with other brands and the painful lumps went away.
