I have had my eye on the Philips Lumea ever since it was first launched a few years back. Today I am super excited in having a chance to review it. I have waited for years to get my hands on this beauty! Lots of my friends have tried and highly recommended it. Like everyone I too had questions like,... is IPL light safe, will it burn my skin, most of all - will it leave any dark marks on my skin. Tried it and none of this happened PROVIDED you take ultimate care and follow the instructions provided along with your own research. At the end of the day, you know your skin best. I am Asian with brown skin tone and yellow undertones. My hair is black in colour and very very thick. For any South Asian members of Indian origin reading this... get this!! You know what I am saying when I say 5 o'clock shadow, dark bristley hair, dark patches when shaving/waxing! This is the gadget for you sisters! I had done a lot of research prior to getting the Philips Lumea, so I knew exactly the kind of results I was expecting. All you need is time, patience and a lot of care for your skin before and after, like using SPF etc which you should be anyway. I used the Philips Lumea on my face (sides, upper lips, lower lip, chin, jawline). 6 weeks of use and I now only have baby fluff. Some chin hair very very thin appears but I know with more use, it won't be the case. I used the Philips Lumea on my under arms. 6 weeks of use and now I have super soft underarms as you can see from my pics. You can see where the Lumea IPL light may have missed and hence hair is growing, but look at the difference. I used the Philips Lumea on my lower legs. 6 weeks of use and now again my skin is super silky and soft. You can see from the pics where I may have missed bits on my knees the so you can see the patchy bits of hair. Whereas you can see the rest of my lower leg is smooth with hardly any hair. If you do have to shave, it is a breeze I tell you. Few long strokes with the razor and it's done! I recently went to Spain on holiday and I did not have to use the razor at all for the 7 days that I was there. I have tried it on the Bikini line, but as the hair is much more thicker there, I have seen less hair growth, but it is not completely lessened as same as my legs. So I will continue and write another review after. I have also tried it on my arms, but as I haven't been consistent (on purpose to see the 6 weeks results), you can see the difference in hair growth on my arms compared to my legs. Hair is much thinner and you can hardly see it. Yes shaving is required, but I know that if I continue for a few more weeks, no doubt the results will be the same as those achieved on my legs. The Lumea is well packaged in it's box with clear instructions on the box and also in the instructions booklet. You have 3 attachments. Face, Bikini line, Body/Legs. You also get a cleaning cloth/muslin and a cute soft bag to store your lovely gadget in. If you are looking to invest in a device for personal body care then Philips Lumea is a must. If 6 weeks of use can give such results, I have no doubt I will be completely hairless body wise by summer so I can have one less worry like all women do when it comes to personal hair care. In the long run it saves you a lot of money that you would spend at salons, time of going there and back, convenience of getting it done in your own home was a massive plus point for me. Yes you have to do it on your own, but if you have a friend who can help you and you can do it together then its awesome. I cannot stress how awesome this device is until you try it for yourselves. So, please do give it a go, you won't be disappointed. Thanks for reading :)
After getting into university I thought I would treat myself to an IPL machine as I have been very self-conscious about my body hair since I was a teenager. I have friends that get IPL sessions and expressed how good it was but to save money I thought I would invest in the machine to save money and ...time (big mistake). After doing hours/days of research I finally decided to purchase this one, even though it was more on the expensive side I thought it would be worth it especially since I was the 'perfect candidate' for this item. I followed the instructions exactly, despise saying it's a fast process I found parts throughout the session to be painful and much more time consuming than it states. After doing my sessions I wasn't noticing any changes but kept positive as I thought it would be worth it in the end. After several sessions following the app it came up 'sessions finished, you are now hair free' but honestly my hair and growth was the exact same as day one. Never the less I carried on using it but after using it for over a year and a half there still is no difference AT ALL. The main areas I chose were arms, legs and armpits, I wanted to do more areas but after realising it didn't work at all there was no point continuing. I'm deeply upset, frustrated and angry to have spent so much money on this item to see absolutely no results. I wish I could get my money back and spend it getting professional IPL sessions, which I should've done anyway. Please don't waste your money and research a good IPL salon instead. Waste of time and money that I won't be getting back.
Bring it back!!!!! Best toothpaste on market, I used to buy multiple tubes at a time & family would all take some cause they loved it!
I previously owned an older Philips Lumea model that lasted over 10 years before finally breaking, so I felt confident upgrading to this newer version. I mainly wanted it to keep on top of a few patchy areas, and I'm really pleased with the results so far. This model feels well designed and comfortable to use – the ergonomics are noticeably better, making treatments easier and less awkward. The SenseIQ feature is reassuring and helps tailor the treatment, which gives extra confidence when using it. It feels powerful, well made, and very much like a premium product. Hair regrowth has been slower and finer, even after just a few sessions, which is exactly what I was hoping for. It's easy to use, effective, and a great update from my previous device. The only downside is storage – despite the provided bag, I never seem to be able to fit the device and all the attachments back into it neatly. That aside, it's an excellent product and I'm very happy with this upgrade.
Wish they still made I love it and use it once a week because I have one last bottle
I bought the Philips Lumea IPL 9900 Series BRP958/00, and honestly, it has been an absolute nightmare. I'm a man, and from the very first use, it caused severe irritation, red marks, and burning sensations on my back and legs. I followed the instructions exactly, thinking I was being careful, but even then my skin ended up itchy, inflamed, and extremely uncomfortable for days. The "SenseIQ" technology, which is supposed to automatically adjust the intensity for different areas, does not work reliably at all. Some areas felt like the device was overheating, while others felt inconsistent and unpredictable. It was painful to use, and I constantly worried I was doing permanent damage to my skin. After using it, I noticed red blotches, small burns, and persistent itching that lasted much longer than it should have. Applying soothing creams only helped a little, and I had to avoid scratching constantly. My back and legs looked worse than before I even started using the device. The device feels overhyped and unsafe, especially for men's skin, which seems to react differently. I can't stress enough: this is not a gentle, reliable IPL device. It left me in pain and with irritated skin instead of anything remotely pleasant or convenient. If you're thinking about buying the Philips Lumea IPL 9900, please reconsider. It's expensive, risky, and leaves your skin with burns and irritation. There are much safer ways to care for your skin. Don't make the same mistake I did—stay away from this product.
I have used this for about 8 years. What do you have as an equivalent replacement? The fluoride is perfect. The paste is refreshing and mild. Does not sting. And it whitens my teeth. I get excellent dental check ups. What have you produced to replace this!
I brought this product after reading the reviews, I wasn't really expecting the results to be that good. How wrong could I be …. I have done my initial 4 treatment and a few top ups and the results are amazing I had a dark moustache and chin hair andl now it's reduced dramatically the hairs that are coming back are less frequent and the thickness of the hair is so much finer I do still have some thicker ones that come through but I think that's because I have missed a few spots , this is expected when you are new to a product and your still getting use to using it .i would recommend this product as a life saver after years of unwanted upper lip and chin hair the results are amazing and can only get better with practice , I have also done my bikini line and under arms and the results are just as good I have been thinking about buying this product for over a year and I am so glad that I did . I couldn't imagine life without it now. There is no way I would ever go back to the dreadful razor.!!!

Light weight and holds its charge. The cut delivers and the cleaning is relatively simple
Is this a beard clipper or hair clipper even Phillips seem confused. It is not as compact as earlier models nor as easy to use. It is clumsy rather than intuitive in use. It is disappointing as I was pleased with the previous model and this is a backward step.

Worst experience. It gave bad burns on the first use. I bought AI feature IPL to use it for my skin tone but AI is rubbish that burnt me so bad. Scared to use now.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I read the information booklet with the exception of the 'Skin Conditions' section as I do not have any skin conditons. I began treatment on my legs which are heavily tattooed. After one section I had to stop as the pain was unbearable; my leg blistered instantly. Following this I then read every word of the booklet to find that this shouldn't be used on tattooed areas; however, this was stated under 'Skin Conditions'. A tattoo is not a skin condition. I then contacted Philips to advise them of the situation and explain that the warning should not be situated in that section. I was met by pure disregard and blamed for misuse of the product. Absolutely disgusting customer service.
