Results not quite as shown on box

I purchased Garnier Nutrisse Ultra Color Advanced Lightening Cream ULTRA PURE PLATINUM recently and after reading the entire instruction sheet AND doing the test on a piece of hair I cut and I decided to go for it last night. I have 80% light LIGHT blonde hair and underneath, in the back, it is var...ious shades of brown. My goal was to get the brown to match up with the rest of my hair. I tested and left the color on for approx 50 minutes. It's not the result I was hoping for (very orangy) but I think if I put my usual blonde over it next time I color my roots that it will even out more (hoping). I DID use the purple after conditioner too,hoping it would remove the brassiness and left it on the 5 minutes indicated. It definitely left my hair somewhat drier. I do have grey roots and I tried it on that but it definitely is not for grey hair (no effect) as said in instructions. I didn't want to leave it on a full hour or longer as the instructions indicate that would be a bad idea! I can't say that I absolutely wouldn't recommend it, maybe it would work better on lighter hair but the box does indicate the brown shades I pretty much had. It's the orangest at the root area but it did indicate you shouldn't put it on your roots for the long period of time you use on the full hair - I did do that area for the extra 20 minutes. I wish it would have turned out as indicated on the box but it was my idea to take a chance so...there you go! My newly colored hair looks intense golden blonde in some lights and more orangy in natural light. On a good note...the new hair color is very shiny!
