Touch finicky to cook properly

I was ambivalent toward these (3 stars) the first time I made them but played around with my cooking a bit and found that the water MUST be at a rolling boil before adding the noodles and you need to take them out at 3min 30s. If you leave them to close to 4min they start to fall apart but too close to 3min and there's a flour-like taste and they aren't quite a proper chewy. Now that I've nailed down the cooking method they're great but rather finicky.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

The udon noodles smelled and tasted like old flour..

The udon noodles had a stale flour smell and taste. The texture was not chewy at all, and the noodles broke apart very easily. They also had a sour taste, so I'm concerned the product may not be fresh.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend
