Delicious Espresso and a Fancy Machine Too

I currently have one of the classic nespresso machines and I love it. I wanted to try out the Vertuo machine, but was concerned about it being too big, since I have limited counter top space. I also love that th...e water reservoir is on a swivel, so you can move it to a spot where it takes up less room. Even the power cable is adjustable so you can choose which side of the machine it comes out on. I'm usually not a fan of red, but it really makes a nice pop of color in the kitchen, where all of our other appliances are silver or black. It's a nice deep red too. Let me tell you, this machine is fancy compared to my little classic nespresso machine. An example: I was having a hard time figuring out how to open the lid where the capsule goes, until I plugged it in and realized that it's electric! You lightly tap upwards on the lever and it opens. Vice versa for closing it. It even has a cleaning function. You press the button 3 times within 2 seconds and the light will blink orange to indicate its cleaning. So cool! Unlike the classic nespresso machines and capsules, the capsules on the vertuo have a barcode and the machine a barcode reader. Once you put the capsule in, the machine reads the barcode and determines what kind of capsule it is. There's no need to choose the size of your drink. You just press the button. Just make sure your cup is large enough for whatever kind of coffee you're brewing. And of course, it makes some delicious espresso. My machine came with the Aeroccino frother which is a separate device to froth milk. I was super excited to try it since I've made a lot of attempts with other gadgets to froth milk, but never used one that plugs into the wall like this. The device has a spring inside of it that creates the frothed milk, you can remove it to make just hot milk. There's a little spot to store it in the lid when you're not using it. Thus, there are two max fill lines, one for hot milk, and one for frothed. You also have the option to do a cold milk froth or hot milk froth depending on how long you press the button. The instructions don't mention a minimum fill amount, so I used about half the amount of milk than the max allowed. So far I've only tried the hot froth option and it certainly does produce a good amount of foam. Is the micro foam as good as what you could get with a real milk steamer? Probably not, but it's quick, easy to use, and easy to clean. I'm also not convinced that it does a better job than the other gadgets I have, but it is much easier to clean than the other devices. You just rinse it with water and pop it back on its base. Overall, this whole system is great and it beats Starbucks coffee and is definitely the next best thing to craft coffeehouse coffee.
