Major design flaw, You can't smell the inhalant
I had a Vicks steamer growing up, I was the best for relieving your sinuses. These new designs are garbage! The old machine would send the steam over the vapour oil so the Vicks smell could relieve your blocked nose, This new one has the oil holder placed on top of the steam vents so the steam is meant to make it vaporize, I don't smell anything. The green light is not what you want at night.
invest in a better product
While growing up my parents would use an assortment of Vick's brand products, it was natural I do the same. Great Until black chips appeared in the bottom which became concerning. I was appalled seeing the heating unit was crumbling apart. This is going into the trash and looking for a different brand. I'm greatly disappointed Vick's would manufacture a product that could do more harm than good.
Poor investment
I have owned this product for a couple yrs to be fair. It worked great at the beginning, I feel I shouldn't have to purchase one every couple of yrs. The black sediment chips in the water you can't get rid of once they start. You can not open the main part to clean it to get it to work again. I would not recommend buying this product. I've reached out. Let's see what happens.
Unfortunately wouldn’t recommend.
I was so hopeful when I purchased this. It is noisey which I don’t mind. Requires constant upkeep such as adding salt to each refill. There is a dark sediment in the bottom. Unfortunately I am displeased with this unit and on the hunt for a new one. I cannot say I will be purchasing the Vick’s brand again in This category.
Darker water residue near the end of water level
whats concerning me the most is the residue left in the water, And very small black pebble like things at the bottom.. why is water darker around the end? What kind of metal is the element made of? Is there a reason for concern? When the item was new there wasnt as much dark residue in the water..
Barely a whisper of steam.
3 days and the water reservoir is now half full. Run time is supposed to be 18 to 24 hours and I can hear it gurgling, but 3 days later & water is still almost half full. the little cup at the top to hold the "Vapo Steam" is useless. Put a teaspoon into the cup & 3 days later, that same teaspoon full is still there. Back to the store this thing goes. Vicks, this little guy needs a redesign!
